49th Annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Show

This past weekend we attended the 49th Annual 2019 Minnesota Sportsmen’s Boat, Camping, and Vacation Show in St. Paul, Minnesota. This show has something for everyone that loves the outdoors. It has everything from boats and RVs to fishing and hunting equipment. There are also representatives from a variety of resorts, lodges, and outfitters. Even if you are not in the market to buy anything there are plenty of seminars and demonstrations to enjoy.

Non RV Highlights

The Sportsmen’s show definitely has something for everyone. A couple of our favorite booths are “Fur-Ever Wild” and “Steve Porter’s Trophy Whitetail”. Both of these booths are live animal displays. Fur-Ever Wild is a working farm that is also home to many animals that are used for wildlife education. Among these animals are: wolves, foxes, fishers, and many others.

One animal I was not at all familiar with was the Patagonian Cavy. It looks a lot like a Jackrabbit and it is only found in Argentina.

Steve Porter’s Trophy Whitetail is another huge attraction at the Sportsmen’s Show. The Porter family has a farm in Lake Bronson, Minnesota. They specialize in breeding large buck deer with many points which they then sell or use for education. This year’s bucks were no disappointment. We got the pleasure of meeting “Heart Attack”, a 5 1/2 year old buck with 32 points.

He was really very sweet.
He had just licked my ear. Yuck.

RV Highlights!!

Although this isn’t the largest RV Show in the area it is a great place to start looking at campers. There is a good variety and since not everyone at the Sportsmen’s Show is interested in campers you can have a lot of attention from salespeople to answer every question you may have. Here are some of the campers that we took special note of:

2019 Cameo 3921BR

This is the “party camper” of the 2019 Sportsmen’s Show. That’s what Abby and I call it. It is a 41.5 foot 5th wheel weighing in at 12,046 lbs. Highlights include two fireplaces (one in the living room and one in the bedroom), and a WET BAR!! The wet bar is complete with a wine refrigerator, sink, and lots of bottle storage. Oh it also has a heated and massage couch. Show price on this was $59.9K.

2019 Columbus 378MBC

This RV got Abby’s vote for this show. It is a 42 foot 5th wheel, weighing in at 13,826 lbs. Highlights of this camper include: a loft sleeping area and a whole separate guest bedroom complete with a couch, bunk, and entertainment center. This is truly traveling (or living) in luxury. Show price for this model was $54.9K.

2019 Astoria 3273MBF

Astoria is a model that is new to me. I hadn’t heard of them until recently. I must say though, from an interior function perspective, I like them. They offer a lot of storage. The 3273MBF model is a 36.5 foot 5th wheel, weighing in at 9934 lbs. Show price for this model was $39.9K. Highlights include: lots of seating, plenty of storage, and a bunk room. Note: these were short bunks for smaller (children) or people who curl up when they sleep.

Conclusion

This is a fun show for the whole family, especially if you hunt or fish. When the kids start to get bored looking at RVs or boats you can take them to the trout pond for some fishing or look at some animals.

We are planning on attending two more RV shows this winter. If you have anything you would like to see or if you have any questions please let us know. Also, if you would like any more information on any of the campers shown above just send us an email and we would be more than happy to help!

Happy Camping!
