Where Our Camping Story Started.
Like most people I know, I have been camping with my family since I was little. Like most families, we started in tents. A “boys tent” and a “girls tent” to be exact. Our tenting adventures led us to places like Yellowstone and one of our favorites, Thermopolis! As we got older, our parents upgraded to a pop-up camper. We thought we were in heaven! Our pop-up adventures led us to places like the Canadian Rockies. A place I still need to get my husband and daughter to. It is truly breathtaking.
Fred’s camping really started as a teenager and adult. Where he used a camper for hunting and fishing trips.
For our honeymoon, my husband and I slept in the bed of our pickup truck, and went “west”. We had no real plan, just go. We made it as far as Arches and Canyonlands National Park in Utah and Yellowstone in Wyoming. In all, I think we hit 6 national parks on that trip. The best part about that trip was not having a plan and just driving until we felt like stopping. Then, pull over somewhere, crawl into the back of the truck and sleep. One morning, when we woke up in Yellowstone, we even had elk sleeping around our truck. Very cool.
Hands down the best part of camping in an RV, for me, is that you have more space to bring everything that you “need”. For me, that’s everything to entertain our daughter, and especially, bringing Josey Wales our German Shepherd. I love bringing Josey with us on vacation. She is super attached and gets depressed when we leave her. It’s no problem bringing her when you have an RV because if you want to go out to eat at a restaurant, or check out the water park, she is safe in the RV. It is temperature controlled and she can’t get out. Granted she may still whine a little if she can see us outside and she can’t get to us.
It is this love of experiencing new places (all while using your RV) that we hope to share with you on this website.
Happy camping!

Great story!! I love to camp and this is fun!! I think we all have slept in the back of a vehicle when we were camping, now the only camping I do is in a cabin…I will sometimes sleep in a sleeping bag outside, but this old body is not very nice when I sleep on the ground! LOL Thank you for sharing!!

Very good reasons. We used to borrow my Uncle’s pop-up camper for trips when we were young – great memories.
