What is a monitor system? How does that work?
Most new travel trailers and fifth wheels are equipped with a monitor system. This monitor system indicates your battery power level and the levels of fluid in all of your tanks. Not sure how full your black/sewer tank is? No need to wait until sewer is backing up into your camper just push a button and check. There are a number of buttons on these monitoring systems. Typical buttons are as follows: Battery Indicator The battery indicator shows you the level of the power or charge in your battery. 4 LED lights=charging or fully charged 3 LED lights=good 2 LED lights=fair 1 LED light = low This is a battery…

MRVDA Twin Cities RV Super Show
This past weekend was the MRVDA Twin Cities RV Super Show at US Bank Stadium. For those that are not familiar with US Bank Stadium, it is the new Vikings stadium in Minneapolis. The Vikings have played 3 seasons in this stadium and stadium tours are still going strong. The MRVDA show is cool because it is put on by the local dealers and is a great place for serious RV buyers to go. There is not a lot of “fluff” at this show. By “fluff” I mean RV gadgets, campgrounds, things like that. This show is for selling RVs. One funny downside to this show was the electric shocks!…

So, you are ready to pick up your camper. Here is what you will need.
You have finally decided on your perfect camper and you are ready to pick it up and bring it home (or hopefully to some awesome camping site). Here are the things that you will need to bring a camper home. Ideally, if you bought your RV from a dealership, your salesperson would have assisted you in ensuring that your tow vehicle was ready when your camper was ready to leave the lot. All of the following items are available at your local RV dealership, even if you purchased your RV from a private seller. Keep in mind that depending on what your vehicle needs, it may take a full day…

RV Tire Guide
Tires are an extremely important part your RV but they are often overlooked. A perfectly planned trip can be ruined in an instant if you are traveling on bad tires. Not only that, you could lose your life in a serious accident. As an RV technician I am not an expert on tires, but after a lot of experience and speaking with several people who are, we have compiled some tips that everyone should know to travel safer. Don’t worry, we know it can get confusing and we will keep it pretty simple. Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will…

49th Annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Show
This past weekend we attended the 49th Annual 2019 Minnesota Sportsmen’s Boat, Camping, and Vacation Show in St. Paul, Minnesota. This show has something for everyone that loves the outdoors. It has everything from boats and RVs to fishing and hunting equipment. There are also representatives from a variety of resorts, lodges, and outfitters. Even if you are not in the market to buy anything there are plenty of seminars and demonstrations to enjoy. Non RV Highlights The Sportsmen’s show definitely has something for everyone. A couple of our favorite booths are “Fur-Ever Wild” and “Steve Porter’s Trophy Whitetail”. Both of these booths are live animal displays. Fur-Ever Wild is…

Determining the Trade in Value for an RV
When preparing to buy a new camper, the questions of: “How much is my camper is worth?” can be really important. This article is about how the dealer determines an RV’s trade in value. I wanted to make this article because I see customers often irritated by what they are offered for their trade in when buying a new camper. An easily avoidable misunderstanding is to know what you owe on your camper. Unfortunately, a lot of people find themselves owing more on their camper than what that camper is worth. This happens frequently when people are wanting to trade in their second camper for their third camper. One reason…

Guide to Winter Camping
The first thing I need to say is that we live in Minnesota. Temperatures here drop below freezing (not to mention the windchill) in the winter. For the purpose of this article we are going to be talking about temperatures below 32 degrees when we talk about winter camping. Now, because we live in Minnesota we don’t recreational camp during the winter. When we “camp’ in the winter, it is generally for deer hunting or ice fishing in a crank down fish house. That being said, I have worked in every brand camper for the last 10 years in below freezing temps. My experience is that most campers will keep…

10 Things to know about RV Power & Batteries
Power is probably not something that you think about everyday but when you are camping suddenly it becomes very important. Here are 10 things you need to know about powering your RV and RV batteries! 1. Types of Batteries Deep-Cycle Battery A deep cycle battery is a lead-acid battery designed to be regularly deeply discharged using most of its capacity down to 80 percent (deep cycled) time after time without causing damage. A deep cycle battery could be used and will start a car or boat. It is designed to be drained lower than a normal starting battery. It will not supply as much cold cranking amps as a starting battery and usually costs way more.…
